Lena Nazaryan Meets with Pupils of Armenia\'s Marzes

On April 26, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Lena Nazaryan met with the pupils of Armenia's marzes involved in the awareness programme Democratic Citizenship Education: Voter for the First Time and the heads of the programme organized with the support of the European Union of the Council of Europe Yerevan School of Political Courses.

Lena Nazaryan talked about democracy, particularly touching upon the values of the democratic country and the way of working and expectations of the people working in such a state.

According to the NA Deputy Speaker, the democracy, being a system of providing freedoms, also has a direct connection with competition. The democracy provides the necessary system, by which stagnation of the society does not take place and the people, the social groups can mutually restrain each other, and work out fair principles of symbiosis without inner polarization, conflicts and violence of inequality.

The NA Deputy Speaker answered the questions of the youth, which related to the necessity of the legislative regulations against disinformation dissemination, the change of the 12-year education content, the restoration of the craftsmanship institutions, the provision of young people's employment, the opportunity of opening Tumo centres in the marzes being far from Yerevan, the steps to be taken by the power in the creation of the new jobs and the reconstruction of the inter-community roads.

In response to the question if Armenia is a democratic country, the NA Deputy Speaker noted: “Yes, Armenia is a democratic country, about which the parliamentary elections corresponding with free, fair and democratic standards held last year especially testify to it.” According to the NA Deputy Speaker, it is not possible to reach the level of democracy during short period, which will let building fair, well-to-do and secure society.

With regards to the issue of tuition fees, Lena Nazaryan has informed that an initiative will be submitted to the parliament in the near future by the Faction My Step, according to which, the working student’s salary income will be directed to the payment of the tuition fee.

After the meeting the guests were in the NA Museum and took a tour in the parliament building.
